STATEMENT OF THE NORTHAMPTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The School Committee of the Northampton Public Schools has voted for the Mayor to form an ad-hoc subcommittee to study the school later-start-time issue. The charge of the ad-hoc subcommittee is as follows:
“To investigate the implementation issues surrounding a later start time at the high school, including effects on budget, school start and end times district-wide, and any related topics (e.g. sports, transportation, coordination with SmithCollege). The Sub-Committee should endeavor, by April 1, to deliver its findings along with one or more proposals for consideration by the School Committee.”
The Mayor is looking to appoint: two school committee members, four teachers, one administrator, two parents, one community member, two high school students, one business community member and / or one municipal government employee.
Anyone interested in serving on the ad-hoc subcommittee is asked to submit a letter of interest to the Superintendent’s office no later than noon on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
