Latino Celebration! Cha! Cha! Cha!

on:On October 21st, I had the privilege of attending the Latino Celebration at Ryan Road School. My daughter Maria joined me for an evening of Spanish music, food and community. The room was full of families excited to share their culture. Thanks to Ms. Ryan, flags from different countries were displayed around the room for families to find. There was a table set up for families to color their flags. Maria and I searched for flags from Guatemala, Spain and Argentina.
The food was delicious with rice and beans, chicken and lemonade. Maria was asked by a staff member to write the display signs for lemonade (limonada) and water (agua). She was happy to practice her Spanish.
I want to give a big thanks to Bill Owen, Margie Riddle and the Ryan Road staff and parents for coordinating this event and extending the invitation to my family and the community. I would have liked to stay all night, but had to leave early to attend a Rules and Policy Sub-Committee meeting.
