Gender and Sexuality Diversity Book Fair

Gender and Sexuality Diversity Book Fair

Psychologist and local author Jennifer Bryan Ph.D. and Bridge Street School to present “Gender and Sexuality Diversity Book Fair: A Benefit for Northampton Public Schools”.

On Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 9-11:30 a.m., Bridge Street School will host a book fair focusing on children’s literature that challenges gender stereotypes, celebrates diverse families, and affirms all sexualities.  A benefit for Northampton elementary and middle schools, this event will raise money to donate a special collection of books to school libraries and individual teacher classrooms.

Educational consultant, Jennifer Bryan, partnered with Jackson Street School principal, Gwen Agna and Bridge Street School principal, Johanna McKenna, to design an event that will bring parents, teachers, school administrators, and kids together around the topic of Gender and Sexuality Diversity in schools. Books will be on hand for browsing, there will be an ongoing story hour for children (ages 4-10), and Bryan will be signing her new book, From the Dress Up Corner to the Senior Prom: Navigating Gender and Sexuality Diversity in PreK-12 Schools (Rowman and Littlefield, 2012).

The event is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.
